Our security officers face different challenges when patrolling a commercial property, campus, and or shopping center. We have extensive training that tackles different situations, and prepares these officers for their daily duties. What happens when you are faced with something uncontrollable such as a blizzard, torrential rain & flooding, hurricane, or tornado? How does our team make weather preparation a priority so that our clients properties, and all tenants are kept safe?
As a company, we look at weather patterns that are evolving, and how they may impact daily operating procedures for our clients. Our operations team utilize the news channels, and social media to analyze weather threats that can fall into two categories. Macro weather threats are larger systems that can affect larger territories of the country. Micro weather threats are systems that may target a town, or city thus affecting our clients. Below are some steps that USI security teams review on regular basis to keep our client’s property safe and prepared once a weather threat has been identified.
Awareness:
- Our operations team monitors weather news channels
- We provide updates to our Operations Manager who provides information to our Officers
- Our management team is in regular contact with property ownership and management for all events where damage can be severe, and our security efforts altered by the weather.
Property:
- Meet with property management / facilities team to review status on fire alarms, power generators, evacuation plans, fire drills, security lighting.
- Review all pre-storm planning, and situational relief plans.
- Review any and all safety supplies for the property.
Visitors / Tenants:
- Communicate with tenants about storms, and how the building could be closed, and or affected.
- Communicate to our tenants that their safety is our number one priority.
- Provide clear evacuation plans for the building and property that are posted for everyone to view.
Weather can be unpredictable and affect all of us, which is why our training of our security officers, and communication to our clients and tenants are essential to our service levels.
