Overnight Officer, Dan LaPenna, recently observed a large group exiting the movie theater while he was watching cameras. He quickly noticed that one male in the group was acting hostile toward the other three males. As he observed them on camera, the group exited the center and started toward their cars. A female that was with the hostile male then broke away and started hitting one of the males. Her boyfriend then came over and threw one of the males cell phones because he was videotaping the incident. Dan began to call 9-1-1 and head to the scene to assist the victims. When he arrived, the offenders had left in their car, only to be stopped down the road by local police and arrested. The camera footage that Dan captured assisted local police in making their decision. The way he handled the situation is above and beyond his typical duty and for that, he should be commended. In addition to his response with this situation, Dan has been a consistent high performer on our overnight shifts and was recognized as Q3 Officer of the Quarter at Stratford Square.
