
Regional Training & Compliance Manager
Jose Alfonso is a highly respected 30-year veteran of the Boston Police Department, recognized for his commitment to excellence in law enforcement training. Over the course of his career, he earned both state and nationally recognized certifications as a police trainer, building trust and respect throughout the law enforcement community.
Before retiring in June 2021 as a Boston Police Officer assigned to the Boston Police Academy, Jose played a key role in developing research-based training programs for both recruit and in-service officers. He also served on multiple committees under the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC), contributing to curriculum design focused on officer readiness, safety, and professionalism.
His areas of expertise include defensive tactics, de-escalation strategies, applied patrol tactics and procedures, patrol response to active shooter events, edged weapons awareness, and reality-based training with over 20 years of development and implementation. He is also a certified instructor in AVADE Workplace Violence Safety and Safety-Care, as well as a SPEAR (Spontaneous Protection Enabling Accelerated Response) System practitioner.
Beyond his law enforcement career, Mr. Alfonso continues to share his knowledge at national and international conferences, including the World Aviation Training Summit (WATS), Asian Pacific Airlines Training Symposium (APATS), and European Airline Training Symposium (EATS). His presentations focus on cultivating a conscious mindset, advancing de-escalation strategies, and preventing workplace violence.
